Pietro Dainelli

Managing director of Geomap srl since 1993, with administrative responsibility and coordination duties for the services provided by the Company in the fields of applied geology, Geographic Information Systems, remote sensing, thematic mapping and data processing.

Geologist, graduated in 1957 at the University of Florence, he is member of the Geomap staff since 1958, as geologist photo-interpreter of Geomap SA under the direction of Prof. Enrico Marchesini, as associate professional of Studio Geologico Geomap since 1968 and as partner of Geomap srl since 1989. He has coordinated and carried out more than 100 projects in Italy and abroad, concerning the exploration of hydrocarbon, mineral, geothermal and hydrogeological resources, studies for land development plans and for environmental protection, applied geology, environmental impact assessment, studies for slope stability and geomorphological analysis for soil conservation and for prevention of natural disasters.

This activity included the interpretation of remotely sensed data, the production of geological and thematic maps, the elaboration of GIS data, over a total of approximately 15 million square kilometers, including field work in 16 different countries.

Teacher of remote sensing and its applications since 1970, in training courses held by Italian and foreign organizations (FAO, CNR, Istituto Agronomico per l’Oltremare, CO.RI.SA, Regions and Provinces) and by private companies. He has been lecturer on contract at the Faculty of Geology of the University of Florence (years 1984-87, 1990-91 and 1992-93).

Member of the Società Geologica Italiana (Italian Geological Society), of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG), founder member of the Associazione Italiana di Telerilevamento (Italian Association of Remote Sensing). He is registered at No. 28 in the Regional Roll of Geologists of Tuscany since 11/05/1968.
